2007 CHAMPIONS CELEBRATED AT ANNUAL BANQUET
The Oklahoma Thoroughbred Association held its 23rd Annual Champions Award
Banquet on August 2nd, to announce the 2007 Oklahoma Champions. The Emcee for
the event was renowned horse racing commentator and sportscaster Chris Lincoln.
The dinner and auction were held in the Eclipse Room of Remington Park Race and
Casino in Oklahoma City.
Winners included: Nakala, 2 year old filly. Picaso, 2 year old colt / gelding. Midsummer
Magic, 3 year old filly. T.D. Jaguar Jones, 3 year old colt / gelding. Older filly or mare
was D Fine Okie. The Older colt / gelding was Kip Deville. Marq French and Laura’s Last
Music were selected Co-champion sprinters. The Turf Champion was Kip Deville.
The Bloodhorse Mint Julep and TOBA winner as leading breeder in Oklahoma went to
Center Hills Farm, of Dr. Warren Center ,who bred champions T.D. Jaguar Jones and
Breeders’ Cup winner Kip Deville. The Center Hills Farm stallion Kipling was also the
winner of the Thoroughbred Times Stallion of the Year.
Center Hills Farm, completed the sweep when Broodmare of the Year was announced
as Klondike Kaytie was chosen the winner. She was the dam of Multiple Graded Stakes
winner and Breeders’ Cup winner Kip Deville.
The last award of the evening was Oklahoma Horse of the Year, and the winner was
Kip Deville. He had a tremendous year earning $1,965,780. He had 7 starts with 3 wins,
1 second, 1 third. His wins included the Frank E. Konroe Mile (Gr 1) at Santa Anita,
Maker’s Mark Mile (Gr 3) at Keeneland, and the Netjets Breeders’s Cup Mile (Gr 1) at
Monmouth Park. He also ran second in the Woodbine Mile (Gr 1) and third in the
Oceanport Stakes (Gr 3).
